2018 Acumen Attelas Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 4% Malbec
Tasting Notes
This beautifully complex and luxurious wine begins with opulent aromas of cassis, ripe plum, anise, and Luxardo cherry, as well as hints of cedar and sage. The saturated layers of ripe berry fruit continue on the lushly textured palate, where the flavors are underpinned by supple, fine-grained tannins that carry the wine to a rich, refined finish.
2018 Vintage Notes
The 2018 growing season began with abundant winter rains that replenished the soils, followed by ideal temperate weather throughout spring and summer. With cooler-than-normal temperatures through September and no significant heat events, the grapes were able to ripen gradually and develop perfect physiological ripeness, complex flavors, and a favorable balance between sugar and natural acidity.

“The wines show a beautiful sense of freshness and purity, and at times can have an almost Bordeaux-like character in their tannins, acids, and textures.
2018 Acumen PEAK Attelas Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Red and blue fruits, violets, spring flowers, toasty oak, and obvious minerality all emerge from the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon PEAK Attelas. With full-bodied richness, remarkable freshness, and gorgeous tannins, this beautiful, elegant wine is another stunning success in this lineup. The full-bodied palate is jam-packed with expressive black fruit preserves layers, complemented by beautiful floral accents and supported with ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long and with impressive energy.”

“Fresh from compiling the Decanter Napa Valley Cabernet vintage report for 2018 Matthew Luczy has pulled together a list of his top 10 producers and 10 wineries to watch based on the wines tasted. As well as his top 10 producers Luczy has compiled a list of ‘ones to watch’. The more floral and understated of the two Acumen vineyard-designate Cabernets. Fresh violets, moss, and black plums on the nose. The palate balances a plush texture with polished tannins, clearly showing its mountain origins but doing so with restraint and poise.”
